Football Betting Strategies
Anyone got any strategies to beat the bookies other than keeping your money?

I've tried various methods and strategies, including matched betting which worked for a little while but ended up taking allot of time to earn a little money so I stopped.

WLD selections seem to suffer a bit at the moment as conditions are creating some erratic results, such as West Ham being 4th!

I like to try the odd pattern such as picking 2 x over 1.5 goals bets and putting 25% of pot every time and I use various stat providors such as Bet Dynamo and Forebet to find selections but still haven't landed on a succesful strategy.

Does it even exist?

What I have learned is that singles, doubles, trebbles at most is the way to do it rather than 5, 6, 7 match accumulators which rarely land.

I once read a book by a professional gambler who’s system was to only bet on certain types of horse race ( eg grade 2’s) with a few certain number of runners ( eg 5-9

I'll only back graded/group races and big handicaps... can't trust the lesser stuff... Oh and don't take any tips and do your own graft... that way you only have one person to blame...

Keeping up with the Jones's mainly or a mate of his that could afford the loses... remember one time they went to Newmarket nights... which is pretty shit grade racing... and he spunked 5k... bloke was compulsive... would bet on raindrops on a window pane... yup lost the lot... lost his job at our place (another matter)... ended up in jail (another matter)... owes money to some of my other mate and large amounts as well.. one of these blokes who thinks he's always better than the system and well... isn't... he'll always be a fuck up... feel for his missus and his kids but not for him... cunt full on.

I do 4 draws @ £3 most weekends, pays out around £330, I've had a few tickles off this, I would say I'm well in profit as being a minge bag, £3 a week is quite enough to spaff up the wall.

He allocated 5 points for a win, 4 for a 2nd etc. Then 1 point for a course win, 1 point for a win at the distance and an extra point if the horse had both. The rating is based on the last 2 races so max rating is therefore 13. Baden the one with the highest rating.

Matched betting isnt meant to be a quick win, it’s about turning the odds in your favour and air works.

So much so that if a bookie gets wind you’re matched betting you’ll get severely restricted or closed down.

As HH alludes to, bookies love a mug punter who whacks on accumulators so avoid those.

only consistent way to beat them imo is to be very selective; and bet singles only.

Every game is priced for the house to win - say 1-2% ; so the odds are already against you

Each time you add another selection you are multiplying the over-round in the bookies favour.... bookies LOVE accumulators..

Was just talking to a college colleague of mine who told me he had to attend addiction gambling services in 2019.
Gambling bug hit him hard.
In person the last time I met him was Christmas 2010 (or so) & he told me he had some difficulties in relation to gambling at that stage but he had it under control.
However, he went off the rails subsequently.
He became an officer of the Sports & Social club at work & had access to their funds.
He lost 33k of their money.

Northern Sold that’s horrible news for your mate. Hope he managed to sort his life out.
I know a mate who was helped out by his parents to cover £100k debt. He was man enough to seek help and admit to it

I have placed various types of bets on football twice a week for the best part of 25 years.

The one bet that has consistently given me a return at decent odds is a treble on 3 draws which normally pays around 33/1
.
The odds on both teams to score and score and win seem to tumble each week and although I've had the odd touch I'm well down over all on them.

Had the odd correct score double up too which paid nicely.

I had a grand on Molinari to win Open golf.

Won about £32k.....don’t know how long it took me to lose that. 😳😳

Haha, another 'hero' with a supposed (fake) big win. Who bets a grand on a golf tournament? Clearly FAKE NEWS.

I do fiver on whu 3-1 every week.......last season think i was down but this year up already for the season regardless of the remaining games

Also do £12 a week on a few accas on a sat.......makes it interesting to watch and have a winner once a month id say. Football, especially in the UK is very very unpredictable though hence why the bookies always win.

I have been betting more in lockdown.......probs due to watching more random games and it makes them more interesting. Keep an eye on skybet and PP they do good offers most days......some of which are risk free

I was doing matched betting for a bit.......a lot of work for a few quid here and there but it was easy....... issue is bookies cotton on and im banned from Ladbrokes and Betway

I bet every year on West Ham to win the FA cup. I also put occasional bets on West Hams position in the league or the score when I go to a game.
I have never won a bet on West Ham.
2006 was exciting to lose...

I think you can win money betting on football as some games that are not even a slam dunk you can see who will win, like last weekend Leicester to beat Villa was always going to happen.

When I dabble I usually just do a 4 result accy, 5 or 10 quid. Usually pays around 15/1 if you don't punt on any heavily odds on games.

Hello Mrs Jones...mentioned the same further down, the lower Scottish leagues if the home clubs are odds on they're more likely to come in than the Scottish Premiership or any of the English leagues - the Outlook paper produced the stats for it for 10 years some time ago...I still include one or two in my acca each week.

I always liked the Scottish 2nd division. Seemed to be easier to predict. Don't know about it now though.

Only way to beat the bookies is matched betting. It’s made me quite a few quid over the last few years but I’m also banned from a shitload of bookies as well.

MTY

I get that paper each week and used to do a very similar thing for a work result and scoreline prediction thing, can't remember for the life of me what figures I used now from the paper to work it all out but used to do well out of it as far as the work thing went...it sounds similar to what you're talking about though and it did take ages each week to work it all out.

Wish I'd kept hold of it now as would have been good for the BTTS and over 2.5 bets.

Re: Football Betting Strategies
The bookies have analysts looking out for trends in betting (at least trends that lose them money). When they identify patterns that are significantly hurting them they act to close them down. The house always wins, and if it does get beaten it works out why and starts winning again.
